Physical geography

Somalia is a lot of the time called the horn of africa because it looks like a rhino horn.The country's terrain is mostly plains plateaus and highlands. Somalia also has the longest coastline in Africa countries stretching at 1,880 miles. In the north east of somalia lies the Cal Madow mountain range. In this mountain range sits the tallest peak in somalia shimbiris which is 7928 ft tall. The mane waterways are Jubba river and Shabele river. Also they both flow to the south and exit into the Indian ocean. The average temperature in somalia is 75 to 88 degrees fahrenheit. There are a few blocks which remain in lose government control. A lot of modern pirates find it easy to drive down the streets with machine guns. That just proves how lawless and government less somalia is. To add on to that almost every country with a stable government strongly advises against traveling to the capital Mogadishu because their government and laws are so loose. Even though they have like no government they still technically have a federal parliament where the president is the head of everything. Alos he chooses the prime minister and the cabinet reports through the prime minister. After many years of civil wars the Somali government have been able to perform critical tasks like collecting taxes. Which proves that somalia is pretty much a failed state because they struggle to provide decent education, security and food. Somalia flourished in the middle ages with major trade. Then european colonizers started wanting to colonize the continent. When british forces tried to take control it sparked one of the longest colonial resistance wars in history. In 1920 aerial bombings struck somalia and its territory became procreate. Then Britain withdrew from British Somaliland in 1960 in order to allow its protectorate to join with Italian Somaliland and form the new nation of Somalia. Following a government overthrow the country when into anarchy and turmoil spread.During 2007 and 2008, Al-Shabaab a war lord seized key towns and ports in central and southern Somalia. In January 2009, the Ethiopian troops were forced to withdraw from the country. A famine struck Somalia in 2011 following the worst drought of Africa in 60 years. Extrem help from all over the world poured in, and by February 2012 the United Nations announced that the food crisis was over. Somalia has a huge history of piracy and an even bigger history of other types of thieveries. Somalia has been cracking down on piracy even more now, because they realize that it is becoming a huge problem that they would not have if they aligned themselves better.
