Physical Security Technology Selection

Introduction. Special Operations Security Solutions has developed a physical security plan at the request of a managing business partner. This Physical Security plan was developed for the safeguarding of information requiring protection in the interests of national security. It primarily pertains to classified national security information, now known as classified information, but also addresses controlled unclassified information, to include for official use only and sensitive but unclassified. The parking areas should be lit with High-Pressure Sodium lamps. Entrance should be lit with Metal Halide lamps as they complement CCTV systems. The office/work areas should be lit with standard Fluorescent lamps. All exterior lights shall be equipped with photoelectric cells with manual control as back up.

Alarm Options As this is a smaller facility, without 24 hour operations, a Central Station System would be most useful. Central Station Systems use telephone lines to transmit alarm signals to central station where trained operators are on duty 24 hours a day to supervise, record, maintain and when necessary dispatch a security force. This is all done automatically, whereas other alarm transmission types are not. There are several types of Central Station systems; the two that would be most beneficial are Digital Communicator system and Radio Signal system. Digital Communicator system is a computer based system, this system transmits alarms through a switch line telephone network to a computer terminal. Radio Signal Transmission uses a radio or cellular signal to transmit alarm to central station.
