One of the major characters in the novel “Lord of the Flies”, written by William Golding, is a twelve-year-old boy named Piggy. Piggy’s character in the allegorical novel is intellectually strong yet physically weak. His goals throughout the novel are to be rescued off the island and to preserve the group of stranded boys to remain civilized. Two difficulties Piggy experienced with is that none of the boys would listen to him or would make fun of him. Although, Piggy helps the boys on the island by being quick-witted, loyal to Ralph, and being a coward that helps the boys to be able to relax and pick on.

He remembered how all the boys would bully him and how he had no one on his side defending him. His ideas, he would come up with would never be heard except by Ralph. His experience on the island has affected him as a father by teaching his children to stand up for themselves against bullies and for what they believe in. He decides to tell his children, Matilda, his eleven-year-old girl and Angus, his nine-year-old boy, about his past on the island. Piggy tells his children because he doesn’t want them to be victims or bullying other children at school. Since Piggy is a mature and intelligent parent, he expects his kids to meet his expectations and try their best.
Some characters in the novel aren’t as near as uniquely as to Piggy. Other characters have flaws in their personalities. Piggy noticed the problems that need to be fixed, tries to keep order, and is an adviser. Piggy helps Ralph throughout the novel and the others on the island.
