In the story “Cub Pilot on the Mississippi” by Mark Twain, there are many instances of conflict. An example of conflict is at the beginning of the story when Twain describes his feeling when he goes to the pilot house in regards to Brown, “I often wanted to kill Brown, but this was not the answer… However, I could imagine myself killing Brown (103). This is an examples of conflict because Twain wanted to kill Brown. He imagined Brown’s death in a multitude of ways, and you don’t imagine killing someone for no reason.
