Plato’s sun Metaphor refers to how the eye needs light to see and how light and sight are said to be like the sun. The sun is the source of sight and the light from the sun is the source of goodness and truth in the world. Because light is what helps the eye see, the soul’s ability to know things is made possible from the truth. If the source of light did not exist, people would be left in the dark and unable to learn the truth of life. Furthermore, for other senses to be used all you need is the sense itself and something to help you sense it.
