The film Pleasantville portrays the changes that have occurred in society over time. It starts with two teenagers who magically get sucked into the television show, Pleasantville. The show portrays a stereotypical image of the 1950s. The show is projected black and white. The people in Pleasantville did not know anything outside of the town. Even the firemen don’t know what fire is because they never experienced it, but they know how to save cats hanged up on trees. Some things that take place in Pleasantville are that when George arrives home he always says, “Honey, I’m home”. The restaurant where David works, the chef always makes cheese burgers.
