Is it true?
In a sense, the movie, “The new world,” is well related to the article of, The True Story of Pocahontas: Historical Myths Versus Sad Reality. Even when there are certain things that are not mentioned in the movie, they can somehow be deduced after reading the article. Pocahontas was a kid of around ten or twelve-years-old who was one of the daughters of the Powhatan’s chief, and accordingly to him she was his favorite of all of them. With her innocent mentality of a kid, and without a clue of what she was doing, she became one of the most remarkable characters in the colonization of Europeans. As a matter of a fact, the article and the movie represent some of her life and the important role that she played. However, there are a bit of things that does not correlate and do correlate within the movie and the facts that are established in the article; but they both explained very well some of the truths that happened to Pocahontas as she was being civilized, and some things that the Europeans did as they

Another interesting related fact was that when Pocahontas was going through depression because she was kidnapped by Argall, the colonizers allowed a person from her tribe to be with her in order to make her feel less depressed. Even when this fact was not very well explained within the movie, we can somehow deduce that the guy who was accompanying her in Jamestown was there to help her overcome her depression. Moreover, as she was coupling into the European culture and induced to wear their clothes, she was introduced into Christianity. She was baptized, and named Rebecca from there on.
