I, Too, Sing America could be metaphor for how American views their military service members in today's society and how the service members respond. This poem is meant for every returning Solider, Sailor, Airmen and Marine who has ever severed, especially those who fought the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. "I am the darker brother." Reveals how American's view their services members as a dark little secret that society does not want to talk about.
