To me, “Let Her Go” by Passenger is a song about loss, taking something for granted while you have it only to miss it when it when it’s gone and the notion that everything is temporary. When the singer, Michael David Rosenberg, writes “Only miss the sun when it starts to snow/only know you love her when you let her go” (Passenger 2-3). This reflects human desire. The desire only becomes significant when it is no longer in possession. People get comfortable and used to the things they have on a regular basis, but don’t think about how much it really means to them until it’s taken away or they go without it. They feel empty, like something is missing or, until they find something to replace whatever is gone.
