“The bull moose Rough draft”
One of the many characteristics that we display is fear. Fear often drives us away from the things we don't know or understand. The poem "the bull moose" written by Alden Nowlan uses powerful imagery and allusions to capture the mind of the reader and to emphasize the hurt that the people are expressing towards the bull. Throughout the poem the author uses diction such as "shaggy" (25) and "cuddlesome"(25) to connote that the bull is harmless. Despite the fact that the bull is harmless, the people of the town are feared and "pry open his jaws with a bottle" (21). A little girl even planted a "cap of thistles on his head" (23); this is an allusion to Jesus as a helmet of thorns was placed into his head during the
