A Shrinking Home Animal abuse comes in many forms and is inflicted by many different perpetrators. Human abuse directly upon animals ranges from physical abuse to neglect, which is equivalent to mental abuse of an animal. Indirect human abuse of animals for example are the actions people commit, and unfortunately in the long-term affect the lives of wildlife in every aspect of their lives, such as the animals’ food supply, size of habitat, and reproduction process. One animal affected by this indirect abuse is the polar bear. Polar bears dwell in the Artic which consists of different nations from several different continents, and is a habitat mostly consisting of frozen oceans, glaciers, and snowy mountains. The polar bears are struggling to survive; they are dealing with warmer temperatures, which have an impact on every characteristic of their lives. They depend on colder temperatures to make successful hunts, but with the warmer conditions their lack of nourishment will affect the next generation of polar bears (“Will Polar Bears Die Out Because of Climate Change?”). We, as a population, use excessive amounts of fossil fuels, which contribute to pollution, an overwhelming amount of chemicals and gases like carbon dioxide, which affect the world’s natural conditions. (“Climate Change”). With excessive amounts of carbon dioxide the world’s producers (vegetation such as plants or trees) have an abundance of carbon dioxide that they cannot use. The extra carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been found to act like a second blanket, warming the climate, which affects the natural habitats of the world and its animals (“Climate Change”). In result, the human population must try to accommodate to these changes in the climate, though a sufficient amount cannot be done by the human race to reverse this effect, we must do our best to preserve the wildlife that are
