Brutality is another prominent form of corruption that we see today. Police brutality ranges from beatings, to the use of deadly force, and shootings (Ciment, J.). Brutality occurs when an officer arrests or interrogates a suspect. There is substantial statistical evidence from many countries, particularly those with diverse populations and a history of discrimination and tense relations among sectors of the population, that brutality is often inflicted by officers who are members of the dominant population against those who belong to a minority or repressed group (Ciment, J.).
