Police brutality in America is out of control and it continues to increase. “University of Nebraska criminologist Samuel Walker told USA Today that the lack of a comprehensive national repository on use of force has been a "major failure" for oversight, while USC colleague Geoff Alpert pointed out that around 98.9% of excessive force allegations are ultimately ruled as justified” (Tom McKay ). For example the events that took place in Richland County of South Carolina and another in Marksville, Louisiana. These two incidents are prime examples of police who think that they were exempt from the law, and used their position unjustly. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Department of Justice should enforce laws that require police officers to adhere to the law with no exception or justification of excessive force. …show more content…
Prior to this brutal attack, her teacher Robert Long had asked her to please put her phone away, however she refused. As a result the teacher Mr. Long decided to call Officer Ben Fields to the class.
