Collectively, my mother and father’s political perspectives were highly influential on the development of my own political beliefs. My parent’s vote primarily for candidates who hold conservative views for the most part. More importantly, the way my family functions over time tends to reinforce my political beliefs. Even though my parents’ votes favor the conservative platform, the way that they run their family tends to favor a very liberal system of beliefs. For instance, I consider our nation’s “safety net” composed of various health and human services when I compare my parents to the political policies that they despise. Over time, I have repeatedly witnessed irresponsible financial behavior from all my siblings. Rather, I believe that local community should take care of its own. Additionally, I believe that increased government presence negatively affects intercommunal bonds whereas less government would strengthen individual communities. The environment that I grew in exerted a heavy influence over how I view politics today. The city of Azle is crawling with people who are dependent upon the federal government, many of whom for less legitimate reasons than others. I have grown to despise the welfare system as I see the type of people that it creates. More often than not, the main argument I have heard for not procuring a job is that a minimum wage job would actually negatively impact one’s household income. Ridiculous is the idea that anyone on welfare would consider rejecting a job. A conservative counterargument would be that, accumulatively, welfare should not provide more than a minimum wage job, and I agree with that. Altogether, liberal government intervention, especially at the federal level as opposed to the state level is prone to much fraud and
