Pollution, Homelessness And The Action Against Hunger

All over the news today, stories are covered on pollution, homelessness, and hunger. There are groups dedicated to fighting these problems such as the Clean Air Organization, the National Alliance to End Homelessness, and the Action Against Hunger. While the ideals of these groups are applauded, could it be that they are simply treating a symptom. What are these symptoms a product of? The answer to that question could be overpopulation. To begin, what exactly is overpopulation? The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines overpopulation as … “a term that refers to a condition by which the population density enlarges to a limit that provokes the environmental deterioration, a remarkable decline in the quality of life, or a population collapse.” …show more content…
Due to the excessive slaughter of livestock for meat, the world would see a decline in cows , pigs , chickens , etc. Fisherman have lots of mouths to feed, and so the population of fish , crabs , shrimp , as well as the other animals that get caught in the large nets that are thrown into the ocean, are helping the number of sea creatures deplete. This also leads to the deforestation for the wood trees supply as well as the freeing of the land. More people means more resources spent. And with limited resources such as fossil fuels, there is a chance there won’t be enough to last for the future population. If these limited resources do last, supply and demand would take over and the price of gasoline, and oil would go through the roof in price and rarity.
