Passage: Darry would kill me if I got into trouble with the police. Since Mom and Dad were killed in an auto wreck, the three of us get to stay together only as long as we behave. So Soda and I stay out of trouble as much as we can, and we’re careful not to get caught when we can’t. # 3 Situation: This is still the starting of the book so, the narrator or Ponyboy is introducing his family and mentions about the situation of him and his brothers. Importance: I think this passage is important to the because it is in the first chapter which has all the details about the character and the situation or the background of every story.
Analysis: I think this passage is worthy of discussion whether it is important or not and I will think it is important because it gives the reader information about the family of the main character. We can make connections that the reason behind teens being in the gang and doing drugs or cigarettes shown in the book is because they do not have an elder parents or guardian who can guide them through. Pony, the main character has two brothers and the oldest one Darry is responsible for their household and works as the head of the house after the death of their parents. #20 Situation: Ponyboy and his friends goes to drive-in theatre. His friend, Dally doesn’t like to follow the rules and so they goes in without paying or illegally. Importance: I think it is important so the reader can gather some information about Dally’s character. Analysis: I think this passage is important because the reader can know about ponyboy’s friends’ way of thinking.
