Genesis, a part of the bible, explains how God created the people on earth. Although the bible states that there is only one God, the Maya creation myth, from the Popul Vuh, believes that there ultimately four Gods who created the people on earth. In the Mayan myth, the four Gods all worked together, multiple times to create the human. In Genesis, it only took God one time to create the perfect human in his eyes. God also created the man and the woman. The Maya myth does not dwell on anything about the creation of woman. These only a few of the differences between Genesis and Popol Vuh that interested me
The differences for each of these texts interest me. Such as, Genesis says that God created the man from the dust and in the Maya creation myth the four Gods created the man out of the flesh. Each of the Gods created man in a different way, but the main difference is how many times it took for them to do so. In Genesis, God's first creation of man

In Genesis, man is created for the purpose to live happily and follow God. In Popol Vuh man created to praise the gods and keep the days. Genesis says the creation should fulfill God's will while the creations in Popol Vuh incapable of doing so. Both sets of creators react negatively but under different situations.
In Genesis, God creates the world in the span of seven days- six days of work while one day of rest. The Popol Vuh, in the Maya creation story, has time already existing and the gods seem to have a deadline they must make humans before the sunrise. God, in Genesis, takes his own time making everything perfect in his eyes without forced to create the earth in a timely manner.
All of these examples show the creators of Popol Vuh less than the all-powerful God, from Genesis. The differences between these two interest to me. Although the many similarities, the little differences make up a big change in creation. Genesis seems more plausible, rather than this Mayan
