Dylan copyrighted this idea. As a person in our society, being betrayed is one of the worst things that can happen to a person. In both Porphyria’s Lover and The Most Dangerous Game, the character that is the focus in the story is betrayed by someone they trusted to keep them safe. In Porphyria’s Lover, Porphyria is betrayed by the one she loves when he kills her as a way to be able to keep her forever and in The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford is let out in the wild to be hunted by the man who took him in and fed him, gave him nice things, and was really nice in general. Richard Connell and Robert Browning use conflict to convey a theme of how betrayal can come from everyone, the people you love and the people you trust.
