Numerous events and changes happened during the “Roaring Twenties.” “The Great Gatsby” portrays the women F. Scott Fitzgerald meets during the “Roaring Twenties” through various characters in the novel. Before the twenties, women wore modest clothing. Their hair must be worn long (Rosenberg). When the twenties came, everything changed. Women wore dresses that are above knee-length, and cut their hair short (Rosenberg). “...verandas are gaudy with primary colors and hair shorn in strange new ways…” (The Great Gatsby). Women, during the 1920’s, have husbands, who control over them both physically and emotionally. They would also have a mistress for sexual fun without their wives knowing. Scott Fitzgerald is the author of “The Great Gatsby.” Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on September 24, 1896 (Miss.King’s PP). He was a unwealthy man who wanted to be part of the “rich crowd” (Miss King’s PP). Unfortunately, he’s betrayed because of the lack of money he has (Miss.King’s PP). Jay Gatsby is the title character in “The Great Gatsby.” F. Scott Fitzgerald fell in love with Ginvera King, who was rich and popular and beautiful (Miss.King’s PP). Unfortunately due to Fitzgerald being poor, King’s father disapproved him (Miss.King’s PP). King married a wealthy person later (Miss.King’s PP). After Fitzgerald published his first book and became famous overnight, he becomes wealthy (Miss.King’s PP). When he reunites with Ginevra, he’s overcome with fear because, “She was the first girl I ever loved and I have faithfully avoided seeing her up to this moment to keep that illusion perfect.”(Miss King’s PP)
During his training for World War II, Jay Gatsby meet and fell in love with Daisy Buchanan (The Great Gatsby). Daisy didn’t want to marry him because she wanted to marry a wealthy man (The Great Gatsby). After home, he’s able to become wealthy. He then bought himself a mansion on West Egg and threw parties every weekend (The Great
