Jack Sparrow said, “The problem isn’t the problem: the problem is the attitude towards the problem.” The quote above reflects in a troubling time, you need to be positive and hope for a positive outcome. In “Hanging Fire,” the daughter is closed off from her mother. She has had a negative outlook and attitude toward her situation. For the daughter to overcome her problems at home, she needs to stop dwelling on the past and look forward the future, to have a positive outlook on life, and a positive attitude.

If you dwell in the past you won’t get anywhere. In the story, I think the daughter dwells on why her mother doesn’t let her in. Because she is dwelling in the past, she has a lot of stress and very overwhelmed by her life outside of her home. The past is behind you, don’t let it affect what goes on in the present and future. Whether the past was good or bad, the future shall be better.

Her mother has a depressed attitude which is reflecting on the daughter. Your attitude towards life is reflected from who you are around. In this case, the daughter is stuck in the house with her mother that never opens up to her. Try to hang around people with a good outlook on life.

Trying to positive in a negative atmosphere is hard to do, but will help in the long run. The daughter said, “I need to learn how to dance at the next party, but my room is too small.” She could be grateful to have a room, but instead, she is discouraged. Being positive will help you and everyone around you. If the daughter was more positive her home life might not be so depressing.

There is too much negativity in the world. If everyone would try to be positive the world wouldn’t be so negative. In “Hanging Fire,” reflects upon a girl in a negative atmosphere that needs to become positive. In conclusion, we need to be positive in every situation, good or
