The negative consequences outweigh the positive benefits when it comes to zoos and aquaria. Anti – captivity is more a persuasive position because of all the loopholes zoos and aquaria jump through to keep up their businesses. There is a program in place, the SSP, to ensure that the zoos can keep up their captive breeding programs under the disguise of repopulating a species. In reality, the zoos take those extra animals and either cull them or ship them away. Zoos make their enclosures nice with foliage and treats but the animals are still unhappy.
