For Jesus declared, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing.”(John 15:5 NKJV) In the Christianity religion, faith in the Lord is everything, without him there is nothing and there would not be anything. Today in society, the general public leads a life where money and materialistic articles are of great significance, ultimately putting the one that granted them these many blessings, God, on the back burner. It is no secret that the citizens of America are divided and categorized by their income status, whether considered as “wealthy” or “poor”, the results of being designated to a specific social group remains the same. There is no one specific way to be classified as “poor” nonetheless, whenever compared to those individuals that do not want for anything there is indeed a significant gap in income. As to be expected, as a strong believer in religion individuals are more focus on what they have at the moment while faithfully giving thanks to God, the who has blessed them with it all. A study by Dr. Rees proposes, that places without a sense of strong safety nets providing people for upward mobility, causes them to seek religion more abundantly for comfort (Miller). Unlike the individuals who live lavishly with no problems, those less privileged often feel lost with nowhere to turn too, this is where God and religion comes into play. The ultimate idea of relying on God and having faith that he will always be there whenever needed, is what assist those going through a time of great despair and discouragement that everything will be just fine. On the other hand, this does not make the current circumstances any better as our nation remains divided both by wealth and by faith. Warned by the British Humanist Associations, that if the government continues to promote religion as a positive social influence, this could possibly cause larger social problems that links to poverty with issues such as the lack of educational access, etc. (Miller). Needless to say, it is acknowledge that everyone will not share the same beliefs or similar religious practices, and because of this it would be unethical, yet illegal to try and force these habits unto anyone. As for the present dilemma on hand with financial inequality, this has been a struggling issue that the United States has been dealing with for quite some time now. Unlike the issue with religion, some would imagine that this financial battle could be easily solved. Indeed, there are many solutions to this problem and because of the simple fact that the ones with the power to do so are of great wealth themselves, the question that still stands is will they actually make the change for the progression of their
