Poverty is a serious issue that even in the biggest and most developed countries there are families, children and adults who face this issue. Canada is one of the many countries who still deal with this problem, everyday there are people who do not know where their next meal is coming from. Although Canada is a developed country, child and family poverty is a big social issue that should be addressed both long and short term.
Poverty is a big social issue in Canada because in today's society money is needed for everything, money is needed to survive in big developed countries like Canada. Prices of food, clothes, shelter are increasing making it more difficult for many people to come out of poverty. It is extremely difficult for those living in poverty to get well paying jobs because most companies want highly skilled educated individuals to work for them. In the short term to address this problem, fundraising could be done to provide those in poverty with the meals needed to survive, food drives could be held and awareness to the population needs to be given. Posters could be hung in popular places like the mall and school to get the message across. In the long term the government can fund safe and secure homes for the homeless to live in. They could each be given an advisor or someone who would help them get out of their situation. Also, money could be focused towards sending these people back to school so that they can get a good education and therefore one day achieve a successful job opportunity. To achieve this change a large amount of money would be required and it is our job as a society to come together and help these people in
