Pre-Crime Is Inhumane

Pre-crime is unacceptable for more than a few reasons. This is due to the fact it is inhumane and whether or not it is for the greater good no one should need to be harmed for it. The way that they keep the pre-cogs is inhumane and does not only go against human morals, but against what is taught to us in our textbook. Pre-crime although it has the right intentions is not executed correctly, therefore it should not be done. Although pre-crime does have some advantages it is still not right. As mentioned in the movie Minority Report the Homicide rate had gone down significantly from what it once was. In the movie it became clear that it was possible for the wrong person to be incarcerated for a crime. The way that the pre-cogs were kept was inhumane and in plenty of ways similar to slavery in a sense as their life was taken away for the benefit of others. The movie also went over how Agatha, the main pre-cog, said that everyone still had a choice whether or not to commit the crime, meaning that the convictions homicide may have been inaccurate due to the fact the convict may have not gone through with the murder. Overall, the way the pre-crime was ran was not ethical and went against human morals. In the textbook it is made clear you cannot write wrong by the outcome of a situation. The book reads that the ends justify the means. The society shown in minority report clearly follows the philosophy of the ends justifying the means. According to the book, to be right, no one is to be harmed in order to achieve a goal. There is no justification for how the police department ran operations in minority report since it goes against these teachings. Not only is it unethical, but against the teachings shared in the textbook about achieving good through wrong
