Lawmaker Scholarship Talking on a cell phone distracts motorists as much as having a blood alcohol level of .08%, and it’s shockingly common. Some studies report that as many as 10% of drivers on the road are talking on their phones at any given moment. If your state has yet to ban cellphone use while driving, it’s likely that it will in the near future. Distracted driving is the practice of driving a motor vehicle while engaged in another activity. The government could help make distracted driving illegal by putting in stronger laws to help prevent distracted driving that may lead to a fatal accident or worse death. In today’s world, kids are only caring about cell phones and less on the road. The government should pass a federal law, which makes distracted driving a lot harder to do. The law could consisted of a ticket that cost the equal or greater amount of going ten miles an hour over and getting caught speeding. The present day law is a primary law, which means that the officer has to see you text before he can pull a person over. Lawmakers need to make texting while driving a more hefty fine, because if they make it more money than people will not want to pay for an expensive ticket. Also, expensive …show more content…
Eating while driving is just as dangerous as texting while driving it can get people into accidents or killed. Lawmakers need to ban eating while driving to help with distracted driving.
