Character Analysis Paper War is a serious business for all parties involved, and some men simply are not cut out for fighting. They fear death more than they care to fight for their comrades or even their country despite already being sorted into a fighting force. However, others are willing to fight even with the fear of death present in their mind. These men are willing to overcome their fears for the sake of what they stand for. To them, well dammit, they have a job to do and this task supersedes whatever problems they have. Mark Bowden shows that Private Dale Sizemore, one of the Rangers in the Battle of Mogadishu, fits this description to a “T”. In Act 3, Chapter 6 of Black Hawk Down, Bowden reveals Sizemore’s dedication to his job as a soldier through his thoughts and actions. Rather than feel relieved that he’s going home because of his injured elbow, it angers him.
