Changing a Tire Changing a tire is easy. It is a very simple process that many people feel like they can not do. This essay will hopefully inform people, so they can change a tire on the go instead of calling a friend for help. People must remain safe while doing so because hundreds of people are killed, and thousands are injured per year changing a tire on the side of the road. There are many materials needed and steps required to change a tire; however, there are many problems that need to be avoided. Changing a tire requires many different materials including a jack, wrench, spare tire, wheel chocks, and the lug nuts on the tire already. The jack will lift up the car or other vehicle and allow the person to change the tire with ease. A wrench will loosen the nuts. A spare will go on after the other tire. The chocks will keep the vehicle from rolling, and the lug nuts will hold the tire in place. All these materials will allow the person changing the tire to change it fast, easily, and safely. The first thing people should do is put chocks under the front wheels, to stop the vehicle from rolling. After the driver chocks the wheels, he should get the spare tire from the vehicle. After that he should loosen the lug nuts, so the tires will not spin in the air while he is trying to take them off. Put the jack under the vehicle, but be careful because the jack has to be put under a certain spot on the vehicle or else it will damage the vehicle. The spot that is right for a jack is different for each model of every vehicle. Lift the vehicle off the ground using the jack, and take off the lug nuts using the wrench. On most vehicles after someone loosens the lug nuts a lot he can finish unscrewing them by hand, which is faster. People should repeat the same process for the front
