How to ride a horse Have you ever ridden a horse? For many people the answer would be no, often people are too scared of them standing on the ground to ever consider climbing on top of them to ride. Many people are ac of actually more intimidated by them then they are scared because of how big horses can get. Normally once people get over the intimidation part they fall in love with anything that has to do with a horse. We will start off with mounting the horse. Most average people will need a mounting block or a stool to get up on the horse but this really just depends on your height and your horse’s height. After you have mounted your horse you will need to make sure your stirrups are at a comfortable and safe link so that you can successfully ride your horse. When checking your stirrup lengths, you can either be mounted and have someone change them for you, or get on and see how much to long or to short they are and then dismount to fix them to the length you need. After your stirrups are fixed you can begin riding. The most important thing to know when riding a horse is a four letter word, that four letter word is Whoa aka your breaks. This is your go to tool when you want to stop your horse. But with that being said you also need to be able to steer your horse and make him go in the direction you are wanting. You are your horse’s driver and they will listen to you just like your steering wheel turns the way you make it while driving.
