Process Type Foundry

Process foundry, founded in 2002, is a modern type foundry that has become a relevant player in the world of graphic design and typography. Since being established, the foundry has continued to grow their portfolio of work as well as prominent, high-profile clientele.

Process Type Foundry is comprised of four partners working together as a team to meet their clients’ font-design needs. Founder, Eric Olson, holds a degree in Graphic Design from the University of Minnesota. Eric left the world of professional graphic design and teaching to pursue type design full-time in 2002, and funded Process Type Foundry. Two other graphic designers, Nicole Dotin and Alice Savoie would leave the world of graphic design behind in order to join “the Foundry” as well. Something that is stressed to us, as employees of Chevrolet, is that the company has made extreme efforts since the mid 2000s, to rebrand and re-establish themselves in the market place. As part of this re-design Process was commissioned to create a typeface that could be applied in all situations to company collateral. The end result was a typeface called Klavika Condensed. This typeface was immediately recognizable to me due to spending large amounts of time handling Chevrolet collateral at the dealership I am employed at. From personal experience, the typeface is extremely legible and visually appealing. Studying some of the vehicle catalogues that we have in the showroom, it became apparent just how refined and classy the Klavika Condensed typeface family is. It works in both large and small applications, and is easily visible, even from a distance, on the covers of the brochures. It is a very aesthetically pleasing typeface.
