The Steps to Obtain Your Driver’s License Getting a driver’s license is one of the biggest things in a young adult’s time as a teenager. Some young adults can wait until they are eighteen years of age to get it, but it is possible to get at the age of sixteen. Not only do more responsibilities come along, but a teenager is also acting like a more mature adult. It is a great achievement, but to get your driver’s license, you have to go through a big process. To get your driver’s license at age sixteen, it takes a lot of work, time and effort. If you have decided to wait until you are eighteen to get your driver’s license, you don’t have to take driver’s education and get your permit. You can go right to the department of vehicles.
With waiting until you are eighteen though, you have to take the writing part of the test before you can take the driving part. It is the same test that is in driver’s education, except that you wouldn’t have had the practice and memorized the rules of the road. You are expected to know them when you do not take the driver’s education course. They score your writing test right after you take it and tell you whether you passed or if you need to take it again. If you passed, then you can proceed in the step of taking your driver’s test and getting your driver’s license.
When going to take the test, you need to determine when you can go, due to the hours of the facility. Then you need to gather your necessary documents such as your id card, your social security number, your birth certificate, and proof of residency. Then you are ready to go to the department of motor vehicles and start the final step in getting your driver’s license. First you wait in a line for the front desk to be directed as to which section you need to go to.
After you go to the section you need, you pay to take the driving test. In some facilities if you bring your permit with you, the charge will be waived. You then get a number and sit down, waiting for your number to be
