List two aspects of the study abroad program you are applying for that you believe will most prepare you for your intended career. For each, describe what specific knowledge, skills, and/or experience you expect to acquire and how you plan to do so.

UMass Boston has provided me with incredible opportunities to learn in and out of the classroom. The honor to study abroad will further reinforce this growth and challenge me academically. I aim to pursue a career in medicine and research after graduation. The career of striving towards an MD or and MD/PhD will surely require strenuous academic work beyond my current course load. Specifically, the study abroad program in Oxford would allow me to take courses that are not commonly taken at UMass Boston. The study of drugs in Pharmacology and the effects on the body in Human Physiology are two exciting topics I hope to explore. As an aspiring medical scientist, having a strong framework on these concepts from some of the best instructors in the world would be of great value.

The experience is sure test my performance and expand my network. In nearly every field, a strong network of professionals is crucial to career success. The study abroad program will provide me with circumstance to network with some that may not share a similar background as me. In a clinic, I will be put in a similar circumstance where I have to familiarize myself with new surroundings and people. Beyond gaining this skill, I hope to be able to work collaboratively with my school mates and professors in the near
