1. A professional nurse is someone who represents themselves and the people that they work for well. A nurse that always is appropriate when speaking with patients and fellow colleagues represents themselves well. Also, another way a nurse is a professional nurse is when he/she has the right intentions. A nurse whose first priority is his/her patients and provides said patient with the appropriate care leads to professionalism. An unprofessional nurse would only do something to better him or herself. Finally, a professional nurse is honest with themselves. He/she knows if they can or cannot accomplish a task. Nurses can increase their professionalism in many ways. First, the said nurse can always show up on time and do what they need to do. A nurse who can accomplish everything he/she was set to accomplish and show that that they can still learn doing that will teach them to be diligent and attentive and that is something they can always apply. Also, another way to grow professionally would be through having good relationships with your fellow employees. People who are able to professionally work together and get along will bring the best care to their patients. Finally, professional growth can stem from doing what said nurse is there to do and not be distracted with the latest relationship drama going on. Through the day, it may be easy to get side tracked. However, professional growth can come from focusing and realizing why the nurse is there and what they are there to do.
