Reading Professors Carothers’ anecdote about Harry, helped me gain some insight about his temperament. I realized that Harry was an active child. Since he was an active child, it was difficult for him to patiently, slowly, and calmly walk down that hill. His temperament made it difficult for him to adjust to his teacher demands and expectations.
I think Professor Carothers’ initial response to the situation when she catches up to Harry and exclaims, “Harry you ran down the hill!” was bad. She saw his behavior as a willful misbehavior. But, when Harry says. “you are not the boss of my legs…” I believe it reminded Professor Carothers that many things affect how a child behaves. Thus, I believe that she handles the situation well at the end because
