Prohibition Resulted In Many Conflicts Prohibition, a major conflict of 5 categories, caused the U.S to have harmful effects. Prohibition occurred when the 18th Amendment was passed into the house of senators and congress. In the 1920’s, Prohibition was in effect of serious conflicts. During Prohibition, many abstinence and elderly men drank hard liquor and alcohol which they were known as dry. The problem of abusing Prohibition caused other people known as wets to suffer painfully. Later in 1933, the house of representatives and senate voted to repeal and remove the 18th amendment. America changed its mind about Prohibition because depression was occurring with other problems such as crime, law enforcement and lost taxes in the United States. Crime affected the repeal of Prohibition because the rate of crime was far more advance when there was no Prohibition. The cartoon by cartoonist Winsor McCay portrays bootleggers, gangsters, dope sellers and racketeers are all associated with crime including Uncle Sam. In document C, it shows the U.S was stuck on a 3 mile limit and on further notice they couldn’t do anything beyond its limits. This explains how alcohol was smuggled at night by people who went beyond the 3 mile limit. In Document D, it explains that the government were breaking the Prohibition law.
