Objective:
The purpose of this assignment is for you to examine and understand two large IT
Management Projects that were undertaken in New Zealand. One project was undertaken in the 1990s and the other project undertaken in 2012.
Outline of the Project:
Students enrolled in the 2nd year course 406027 should work in pairs on this assignment. One student in the pair will examine INCIS and answer the INCIS questions and the other student in the pair will examine NOVOPAY and answer the NOVOPAY specific questions. Both students will then answer the comparison section.
Those students enrolled in the 3rd year course 407703 are to complete this assignment individually. Some 406027 students may wish to do the entire assignment by themselves. This is not advised but is acceptable if they prefer. These students will therefore have to answer all 3 sections themselves. There will be no extra marks for doing a solo assignment and the marks for the INCIS and NOVOPAY sections will be added together and halved so that the mark is an average for the two sections.
You are to find and read relevant material outlining the INCIS Police Computer Project and the NOVOPAY school wages and salary project. You may find this material yourself or use the 2 enquiry documents posted on AUTONLINE under the ‘Course Material’ menu. It is recommended that you use these two documents as they provide a very thorough review of the projects.
For those students in 406027 and therefore generally working in pairs, one of you is to summarise INCIS and the other to summarise NOVOPAY. You will then work together to summarise the two cases, compare the findings and discuss lessons that could have been learnt from INCIS and applied to NOVOPAY. You will also provide your own conclusions as ideas that should be applied in future, similar projects. You are to highlight any mistakes or failings found in this comparison. DO NOT SIMPLY USE THE FINDINGS
CONTAINED IN THE PROVIDED DOUMENTS. You must make your own observations and justify why you believe your findings are relevant.

For students in pairs, the INCIS summary will be completed by one student and their name and Student ID will be on this section. They will receive their own mark for this part of the assignment. The other student in the group will do the same for NOVOPAY and will receive an individual mark for this section. The final sections is a summary section of the 2 projects and lessons learned and will be the same mark for both students marked out of
20.

Students in 407703 must complete this assignment individually.
Deliverable:
You are to produce one electronic document in Word or PDF format that is submitted via the instructions that will be provided to you before the due date. Word counts are provided as a guide only. This combined deliverable document will be:
1: AUT Assignment Cover Sheet(s).
2: Summary and findings for INCIS. (1500 words as a guide)
3: Summary and findings for NOVOPAY (1500 words as a guide).
4: Comparison of findings and lessons learned (1000 words as a guide).
