Executive summary

Projects are one of essential approaches by which individuals change the world, such as English Channel, Olympic Games in London and Apple Mac Book Air. Pinto (2013: 25) notes as a project, it must possess some characteristics, including setting up a specific purpose and limited budget and resources. Coventry University will run a project—a music event for helping children living in many war-torn countries and the project will last in thirty days. The purpose is to donate money and this music event will be held on 25th July in shopping Centre in Coventry. At that day, all audiences will watch twelve programs from volunteers of Coventry University Charity in one and half hours. The music event for charity has five parts. Firstly, the project team is likely to plan this event in eight days. During this period, they need look for the sponsors, volunteers and design the publicity materials. In the terms of those work, seeking the sponsors play a vital role in running the project successfully. Secondly, market department needs to prepare all resource requirements in this event in the follow three days, such as stage properties, costumes and volunteers. Thirdly, the volunteers practice their programs and then rehearse all programs before the performance. When completed the performance, volunteers and IT department need to clear the location and arrange all sound equipments. In addition, financial manager should take attention the flow of fund.

The budget of this event is 300 pounds from the sponsor—Han Dynasty Restaurant. This restaurant will borrow all sound equipments for free as well. As a result, two thirds of all budget is likely to spend posters, leaflets and banners, 200 pounds. The marketing department is projected to spend 50 pounds hiring two canopies (40 pounds) and fifty bottles spring water (10 pounds). In order to ensure activity successfully, the contingency is 50 pounds.

During the process of this event, the main problem is less funds. The reason is that we hope we may save more money to donate children. Another, our team may also face the absence of audiences without the celebrities. Then, as the location is outside, the bad weather is likely to affect the event. When solving these, the project team may success this music event.

Our project team consists of project manager, marketing manager, volunteer manager, program manager, IT manager and financial manager, and they are responsible for different parts of this event. For example, volunteer manager is in charge of seeking volunteers and training volunteers in this event.

Children’s lives being devastated by war is an
