Foster Care Statistics, Pros and Cons

James states, “Sometimes the people that are supposed to love you will hurt you as well” At the age of 1 year old, James was put in foster care. According to James he says that he once had a foster father who was racist, his father found out that James had a black friend. One cold night the father beats James and leaves him outside. “I grew to realize that my circumstances equipped me with the tools and burning passion to make certain other foster youth do not experience what I did.”
Luckily James was able to communicate with his case worker who later helped him with his situation while at the same time made a difference in his life. Despite James circumstances, he was able to overcome his rough life and was able to graduate from the University of Southern California. Child welfare was not fully developed until the 1800 and in the 19th century foster care system was created.

Another example would be, that the mother remarries and the step father sexually abuses the kids, automatically this should be reported to child protective services to keep these kids away from this disgusting predator. In other cases neglect would be considered a type of abuse, if the parent/parents or caretaker are not properly providing the appropriate care for the children due to either over working hours to make ends meet, or simply being irresponsible because they’re out there doing their things such as parting or getting wasted.
