We have objected; we have laid ourselves before the king's throne; we have tried peaceful compromises; we have done everything we can so now we have no other choice but to fight. King Henry the third is no good for us. Here are some of just the many terrible things he has done. First of all he has refused to enforce new laws and to allow our legislature to create new laws. Secondly he has destroyed the houses of the ones we love because they don't fit to his “likings”. How outrageous is that? Finally on top of all this he has cut off our trade with all parts of the world and is imposing taxes without our consent. Under his rule we have no voice or freedom to do what we want. These people believe we should try to solve things peacefully and stay loyal to Great Britain by not going to war. I disagree with this because first of all we tried to settle things peacefully and it failed. Secondly the king is treating us unfairly. He won't listen to our thoughts and ideas. Basically the king thinks the world revolves around him and he has all the power. And worst of all he's making us pay outrageous amounts of taxes without our consent. We need our freedom back and in order to do that we must fight and separate from Great Britain. We must go to war with Great Britain. We have done everything we can, we've tried peaceful negotiations and that didn't work. God is on our side and supports our decision to go to war. The king is stripping us of our natural rights. We are no longer allowed the freedom of speech or to say what we feel. We are basically like slaves being forced to obey the rules of the king. After these three arguments I hope that you agree with my decision that we deserve freedom even if that means uniting our colonists and preparing to
