Driving is a learned skill that majority of people will learn in their lives. The question is, what age should parent teach their children on how to drive? The debate is should the law keep the age as sixteen or rise the legal age to twenty-one? Actually, raising the age to twenty-one can cause many inconveniences and should not be an option. If the driving age happens to rise to twenty-one, how would kids get to school or even college? Yes there are buses and other transportations, but those sometimes can not be the best option or could cause a student to become late. Especially if the student wants to go to a far away college, least likely you will not be able to find transportation that could take you there with luggage. Hours on busses could also cause problems if you have before and after school events to attend. Parents also are not always available to …show more content…
While parents are there to help their children, unfortunately they can not be there twenty-four seven. Parents have jobs to attend to and errands to run. This could be a problem for both the student and the parent. Also, not all kids have parents or very protective parents. Some kids need their own independence if something is happening at home. Parents fighting at home could possibly cause more stress on the student and is not a good environment. It would be best for students to have some type of independence, maybe to a friends house or a small dine in place. Then some kids do not necessarily have parents to take them places. They could possibly only have a guardian, other family members, or a foster home. Sometimes these kids also need their independence. Having the legal driving age at sixteen would be better for them mentally than twenty-one. Overall the legal driving should not be raised to twenty-one and should be left at sixteen like it is.
