Planned Parenthood strives to make sure that people are well educated on sexual health and they get the proper care that they need. They offer services like providing contraception to people, most commonly teens and young adults, they offer STD, HIV, and AIDS screenings and treatments. Planned Parenthood offers a number of different services that help people cope and deal with issues surrounding body image, relationships, sex and sexuality, and sexual orientation and gender identity. Planned Parenthood also works predominantly at making sure that everyone has proper access to sex education and that everyone is fully understanding of the issues surrounding sex and all that it entails. Without this resource being free and readily available to anyone and everyone that wishes to use it, a decline in mental health among people of all ages, but especially people who are younger and more impressionable, would …show more content…
Defunding Planned Parenthood would take away healthcare from minorities, specifically people who come from low income families, and are either people of color, such as Latinos and African Americans, and also people who are members of the LGBT community. This defunding would largely impact people who are living in rural areas, which tend to be people who are minorities. One quote from the article “Guess Which 4 Groups Would Be Disproportionately Hurt By ‘Defunding’ Planned Parenthood” states that “More than half of Planned Parenthood’s health centers are located in rural and underserved communities.” additionally, it states, “Of the 2.5 million people who rely on Planned Parenthood for health care every year, 370,000 identify as African American or Black.” and “ Around 575,000 Latinos come to Planned Parenthood health care centers annually (nearly a quarter of Planned Parenthood’s patients).” These statistics exhibit that without the funding of Planned Parenthood hundreds of thousands of minorities all across the world would lose access to health care, something that would take away from the goal that many politicians are trying to achieve
