Donald J. Trump was sworn into office on January 20th, 2017. This American tradition has been held in Washington for centuries, swearing in all forty-five presidents. This occasion marks the beginning of a new era with the passing of political powers to their successor. As there are many different views to politics everyone has their own view on the president just by their inaugural address. The comparison between President Trump, President Reagan, and President Carter is completely uncanny as they have their many similarities and differences.
President Carter (Dem.) was sworn into office on January 20th, 1977. This marks 4 different decades worth of people and change of government between Pres. Carter and Pres. Trump. Within the beginning of Carters speech he makes a point to thank his predecessor from the nation as whole “for all he has done to heal our land.” He uses a personal connection to appeal to the masses as he talks about a teacher he once admired. As he goes on he mentions the foundation of America, as well as a bible verse that connects with this foundation. He makes the statement, “these are changing times,” as they are making their entrance into a new era of beliefs and ideals. Pres. Carter’s speech was a repeating notion that the American dream will reign once again as a nation. He spreads a since of unity and tries to tie the nation together by using American ideals and values.
