Scripture: God the Father speaks creation into existence through the Son and by the Holy Spirit. Within the first two verses of the Bible, we see that God is able to speak anything into existence (Genesis 1:3). In Psalm 33 the psalmist talks about how God merely spoke and the heavens, stars and boundaries. Then in Genesis 1:1-31 it also shows that God is able to effortlessly bring something into existence. These verses are evidence to God’s omnipotence. Scripture tells us that our faith is in the God who created everything on earth out of nothing (Hebrews 11:3). This verse in Hebrews is very humbling. It tells us that everything that we see did not come from anything that is able to be seen. This reinforces the fact that creation is finite and will not last forever, …show more content…
But it only talks about the material world. Creation shows humanity how we were in our original state. It also shows humanity that the rest of scripture is a revelation of redemption. Berkhof compares the event of creation in the Bible to the Babylonian story. In the Babylonian account there was struggle during the creation. Then in the Bible all God had to do was speak something into existence. God created the world from nothing.
During creation we are able to see that there is progression in each day which ultimately prepares and set the world up for what will be created in next day. The first three days of creation were days of separation. There was the separation of light and darkness on the first day. The second day there was separation of the sea and the sky. The third day God separated the sea and the dry land. On the fourth day God brought things into creation to serve multiple purposes. He created the sun, moon and stars to help divide day and night.
