Many psychologists have proposed theories that try to explain the origins of personality. One highly influential set of theories stems from the work of Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud, who first proposed the theory of psychoanalysis. Collectively, these theories are known as psychodynamic theories. Although many different psychodynamic theories exist, they all emphasize unconscious motives and desires, as well as the importance of childhood experiences in shaping personality. From this we can see a person’s personality is developed through ways a person is raised, by the environment they live in or even the lifestyle they have chosen to live by. At first Baby is shown being shy but not scared to get out and do different activities. She soon meets Billy, who is Johnny’s cousin. She helps him carry watermelons to the kitchen, at this point she sees some of the staff from the resort dancing a way she has never seen before. This is when she meets Johnny Castle. As we look into the factor model we know that extraversion is where people who are high in extroversion are outgoing and tend to gain energy in social situations. As we look at Baby we see that she is outgoing and when she meets everyone and is very friendly. Her personality shows us trust and affection. As we start the scene where Penny Johnson, who is Johnny’s dance partner, gets pregnant and has an appointment to have an abortion. We find Baby learning the dance and becomes Johnny’s dance partner, we continue to see agreeableness. As Johnny teaches her the dance there are several times that Baby must trust him. One seen is where they are in the water practicing the lift and Baby must trust Johnny not to drop her. This is hard for her. There are several scenes where we watch Baby practice time and time again to learn the dance and the steps of the dance. During this time we see Baby falling into Conscientiousness because she is showing a goal-directed behavior. Baby finally has learned the dance and is ready to perform. For a young girl in the 50’s to ride with a “stranger” is a big thing. She learns a trust with Johnny that is unbelievable. After they dance at another resort they return to Kellerman’s Resort, they find Penny in lots of pain. As Johnny is comforting Penny, Baby runs and wakes up her dad, who is a doctor, to come and help. Dr. Houseman helps Penny, but he is disappointed in Baby because she shouldn’t be running with these kinds of people. But for Baby she is showing Prosocial behaviors. These behaviors are characterized by a concern about the rights, feelings and
