As a social worker, it is crucial to understand the various types of written formats in clinical writing. Intakes and psychosocial histories are just two examples of the different types of written formats social workers use at different agencies.
A psychosocial history is a summary of the problems that a client is going through. The social worker considers a variety of factors, which may include the physical or psychiatric illness and its impact, results derived from psychological tests, legal status, descriptions of the problem or problems, existing assets and resources, the prognosis or prediction of outcome, and the plan designed to resolve the problems.
