The Pueblo Revolt was an event that took place in the year 1680 and lasted 12 years in Santa Fe ,New Mexico that consisted of the Indigenous people of New Mexico revolting against the Spanish rule.Also known as Pope's Rebellion.It was led by a Native American who was a Pueblo Indian and went by the name Pope (Foner 34). According to the Governor and Captain-General at the time Don Antonio de Otermin of New Mexico ,he had learned the day before of an attempt to overthrow the Spanish rule by the Native Americans in which he warned others to prepare for the worst since there was no time to be well prepared.The Pueblo Revolt is an important part of history that should be remembered because it united Native Americans from different tribes,proved that anyone can revolt , and that a European giant could be beat.
