Punishments In Dante's Inferno

I’m interested in focusing on the main topic in the story of Dante “Inferno” revolving around the religious views we see in this story. We see in Dante “Inferno” how the life choices you make in life can influence where you are placed in the afterlife, but how does the punish of sin and greed places you in which circle of hell and which people in our society would be considered the Judas and Brutus of Dante era and Who would be labeled in each circle. Sin- An act which is regarded as a transgression of the divine law and an offence against God; a violation (esp. Willful or deliberate) of some religious or moral principle. In the Dante story we can see as he walks through these circles that it represents more of just hell, but the reality of “the spiritual act of dying to the world” (Dante) giving gods angel a view of the tedious hell even though he is going to heaven as thought out to be “false start” (Dante) for him. The third and fourth circle consists of gluttony and greed. The sinners of gluttony are punished by laying in an endless vile produced by endless icy rain. This demonstrates the ones who over drink and eat. These would be people that are alcoholics or obese in our society and resembles ciacco in Dantes journey through hell. The fourth round includes that of greed, this sin now a day’s play a big role since money rules the world. We see in the First Round of Limbo there actually isn’t a punishment for the sinners, however it’s more of an eternal life of sadness, the second round we witness the first true punishment of hell this being an infernal hurricane that throws the souls of the sinners around in an act of molesting them for eternity. The third and fourth circle consists of the punishment of lying in the dirty mud and getting rained on and if that isn’t enough the three headed monster consumes the sinners. The Fourth circle makes the sinners roll heavy weights on each other and making the ones who lived their life full of greed with never-ending hoarding. The next
