We have all heard ‘a dog is a man’s best friend’, well that statement is not always true. They are sometimes like a best friend to their owner, they are secret keepers and you can also rely on them to be there when the owner needs anything. They will try to protect their owner at any circumstance. Dogs are loyal to their owners through everything. Dogs also feel the emotions of their owners. Most people do not normally think about animal abuse, but it happens everywhere and all the time.

There are many different types of animal abuse one for example is inhumane dog breeding. The number of dogs being bred at puppy mills can range from 10-1000 different breeds. Female dogs are bred at every opportunity at the puppy mills according to A

The dogs are often kept in fences or cages packed with multiple dogs and the bottom of the fences’ wire injures the dog's paws, it is not unusual for the cages to be stacked up on top of one another. Most dogs do not get to experience what treat, toys, and basic grooming feels like. The puppy mill operators often fail at removing sick dogs from the cages, therefor puppies from puppy mills are very prone to chronological and hereditary conditions. Many puppies come into their new homes sick and if their new owners have dogs it can possibly get their dogs sick also. Breeding dogs might spend their whole lives outside in any weather condition or they might be jammed into the kennels and never see sunlight a day in their life. The dogs start racing at eighteen months old but, most greyhounds do not make the average retirement at the age of four to five. After the greyhounds are done racing the owners do not take home the dog, a dog sitter watches the dog. Most greyhound owners usually only use the dogs for racing. Most injuries of greyhounds are from racing whether it can be a heart attack, heat stroke, electrocution, fractured skull, broken neck or even broken legs. When the greyhounds fail to be fast enough of for the owner's standards they shove a metal wire into the dog's rectum, then attach an alligator clip to the dog's mouth and lastly they electrocute the dog until death. “In the year 2002, it had been reported that over 7,600 greyhound puppies and 11,400 old greyhound dogs were killed”(‘Animal Abuse Statistics-the facts’ n.d)

Other than dogs, horses are sometimes treated just as badly. Some people use electric shocks while a horse is performing to make them run faster. Rodeos are a huge stress on animals like horses and even cows. Owners will twist calfs tails to make them fall down just to get money for them. They suffer broken ribs, backs, and legs, torn tails, punctured lungs, internal organ damage, ripped tendons, torn ligaments, snapped necks, and agonizing deaths.
