Do you know what the smallest monkey known to human is? The Pygmy Marmosets weight can get to only four ounces or 130-140 grams. Their size can get to about fourteen to sixteen centimeters. A Pygmy Marmoset is the world's smallest monkey (or primate) known to human. This monkey is the smallest monkey breed who is on the vulnerable list but not fully endangered.

The Pygmy Marmoset is a species not commonly known in the United States. It is very rare and hard to be seen. They are known to be an exotic animal. The way they live they live is different compared to most animals. Just the setting of where they place their nests and where they get their food is way different than the other monkeys. The average weight for them is five ounces when they are fully mature. The hair on them helps them look larger than they really are. How they communicate is by clicking sounds or they make loud calls. Most of their life, they spend bonding with each other and don't go out of their groups.

Survival for these small primates is not easy. Pygmy Marmosets live on the outskirts of tropical forests. They need to communicate and warn each other of the danger around them. The loud calls they make can warn each other of what is coming. Fur on these animals grows as they get older to make them look bigger than they are to help them deflect their prey. When the humans destroy their habitat, the number of them decreases.

Since the color of these animals are brown, white, tan, black and grey, they blend in with their surrounding areas. This may help them to survive their predators. Their nests are located towards the tip of a branch. It helps them to stay away from their predators. Since other animals weigh so much, the branch would break if they tried to get to the monkey. This animal is a very social animal, they only live in groups of ten or more. This all depends on how many offspring they
