What makes a community strong and capable to be held together? A community builds and grows off of the support and love people give it. The “greasers” community is so successful because everyone has each others back. One character who showed this trait multiple times was Johnny. Johnny did things only to help and protect his community. Johnny alone showed me what makes a community capable and strong, and the “greasers” hold their struggling community well. Johnny and the other “greasers” showed us how to be a loving community in “The Outsiders”. One example is when Bob and his friends were drowning Ponyboy. Johnny helped him and stabbed Bob and his friends ran away. This book does show some bad traits of a “loving community”. The “greasers” and “Socs” fighting shows bad traits, they don’t come close to even respecting each other. Not everything in this book shows results in a good community. The book suggests you need support and love from the peers in you community. People say a quality community is one that is stable and running, The “greasers” community is junky, but still quality. The “Socs” community is definitely quality. If you are surrounded in a good community you will have jobs open up near you. Almost everyone in this story cannot depend on themselves except Darry. Darry is the oldest out of the gang, he supports his two brothers. Maybe by the end of the novel the “greasers” community could change. The experience could go well for them, I've seen community’s change since my parents got married when i was young. They wouldn't know what it would feel like to live in Bartlett or Arlington. It would be amazing to put the “greasers” in our shoes. Are community’s are nothing alike because of the war going on between two outcast
