It has something to do with life lessons which is the main idea of this essay. In the book “Touching Spirit Bear” Cole Matthews the main character is a young man who is always getting in and out of trouble. With his parents bailing him out time and time again, but is life is soon going to get shaken up with quite the rude awakening. Which will be the start of his new way of learning life lessons.

The First life lesson he has to learn is how to control his anger, and not have so many outbursts. He is sort of a time bomb but it’s not time that sets him off, it’s things he doesn’t like. Cole Matthews has always been on the bad side of things. He never has good luck, bat that is his fault since he does it to himself. Cole has to learn to not only forgive other but to also forgive himself. He has to learn to gain forgiveness from the people which he has hurt and the other that it had impacted. And also the ones who have hurt Cole, especially his father. Cole’s father is abusive, but cold knows that is how his father’s parents treated him when he was young. So that is how his father treats Cole. Cole will eventually have to forgive everyone. But he first has to forgive himself Which Edwin calls mentally healing. They try to help people mentally heal at the circle justice meetings. Cole is now able to forgive because of his experience at the island, and his encounter with the spirit
